It was a beautiful Friday morning, and I was in a hurry to clean the house before my children woke up. Then, something caught my attention; the stem outside my window was budding! I was surprised because some children transplanted the branch a few months ago. The stem died after it was transplanted. It didn’t show any sign of life. It was even looking dry. I was surprised to wake up and suddenly discover it was budding. I remembered the scripture that says;

 I assure you and most solemnly say to you unless a grain of wheat falls to the earth and dies, it remains alone (just one grain and nothing more). But if it dies, it produces much grain and yields a harvest.

JOHN 12 vs 24 (Amp)

Jesus emphasized in this scripture that a seed has to die for it to multiply. I remember we were taught in agric class that for every seed planted, it has to die at one point to give way to a new life. As believers, we have to be dead in sin alive in Christ. We no longer live the life of sin. The old nature of sin and death gives way to a new life. God has called us to a new life of holiness and righteousness. Jesus showed us a perfect example of what it means to have a new life.

 Jesus came to the world performed miracles, signs and wonders everywhere. These acts could have won him a throne on earth if he wanted one; he instead laid down his life on the cross. Jesus was born by a woman who transferred the human nature of sin and death. I know this because the bible recorded that Jesus was tempted in the book of Hebrew 4 vs 16.

For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing any] sin.

Hebrew 4:16(Amp)

Devil tested Jesus, and he stood the test of time. When the devil asked Jesus to turn stones into bread, Jesus was hungry. He didn’t yield to this temptation because he was dead to sin. The Lord Jesus was not ready to lose the reward for his dedication to the work he was sent to do on earth. He knew he owned everything; he refused to give in to the devil. Jesus preferred to die for us so that we could also reign with him in eternity.

He gave himself as an offering so that we could have life. The death of Jesus brought more souls to him than his sitting on an earthly throne could bring. He was able to redeem as many as possible with his death upon the cross, and this was better and had more honour.

 Dead to be alive translates to us Christians who are followers of Christ. We have to be dead to sin and alive in Christ Jesus. We become dead to the law to have freedom. Dead to sin to have life, we’re dead to the works of the flesh, We are dead to win more souls to Christ. We have become a new creature who has the right to sonship because of their faith in Christ. A new door has been opened unto us to become something more.

who is Abraham?

Is Waiting on God worth it?

We have a new life and a new spirit that honours and yearns for God. Just like a seed has to die to bear more fruit, we must be dead in sin alive in Christ. A seed produces hundreds more fruit. A mango tree can produce hundreds of mangos because it has passed through the process.

As believers, we have to take the opportunity of the new life we have. We must live a life that bears more fruits and draws men unto Christ. Don’t be afraid to be dead to all works of the flesh because the new life is your best opportunity. We can only bear more fruits if we give our hearts to Christ dead in sin alive in Christ.

Much love
